Mad social scientist from Denmark addicted to regular injections of Finnish metal in order to function somewhat normally in society. It began with Nightwish around the turn of the millennium, but the addiction quickly grew to cover many more bands in an ever more potent mix. The ingredients are now too many to mention, but the concoction is usually based on varying balances between Insomnium, Nightwish, Amorphis and Wintersun. The artful feeling for melody and melancholy that many Finnish bands seem to possess intuitively has long since pushed me beyond any hope of rehabilitation. Finland has been visited several times, and I lived in Helsinki for six months back in 2009/10 during an internship. I am also a writer at Metalized Magazine, the only Danish print magazine, alive for more than 25 years and still going strong. There I am continuously reminded how the Finnish mix will never become stale if inspirations from other countries are added.
